Parque de Julio Iglesias: Benidorm’s tribute to a music legend
Benidorm is famous for its towering skyscrapers and vibrant nightlife, but tucked away in the heart of the city is a tribute to its musical roots: Parque de Julio Iglesias.
Named after the legendary Spanish crooner whose international career took off after winning the Benidorm Song Festival in 1968, this park is more than just a green space—it’s a cultural landmark.

Why Visit Julio Iglesias Park?
The park serves as a peaceful retreat from the bustling "New Town" (Levante) and the historic "Old Town." Here’s what makes it worth a stroll:
The Auditorio Julio Iglesias: The centerpiece of the park is a large open-air auditorium. Throughout the summer, it hosts concerts, festivals, and local celebrations under the Mediterranean stars.
Cultural Hub: The park is also home to the L’Aigüera Park complex (designed by architect Ricardo Bofill), which includes the town hall and another smaller amphitheater, the Oscar Esplá.
A Scenic Walkway: Long, palm-lined avenues and Roman-style architectural elements provide a classic, elegant backdrop for an evening walk or a morning jog.
Strategic Location: It acts as a "green lung" connecting the modern city center to the administrative heart of Benidorm, making it a perfect shortcut for sightseers.
A Touch of History
It’s no coincidence the park bears Julio’s name. In 1968, he performed "La vida sigue igual" at the local Music Festival, what is now known as BenidormFest, marking the start of his journey to becoming the best-selling Latin artist in history. The park honors that enduring connection between the artist and the city that helped launch him.

Tip: If you're visiting in the summer, check the local event listings. Seeing a live performance in the open-air auditorium is one of the most authentic Benidorm experiences you can have.
